PC Pitstop - PC Performance RootsPC Pitstop began in 1999 with an emphasis on computer diagnostics and maintenance. During the early days of the dot com boom, our online PC maintenance tools were skyrocketing. Using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer along with ActiveX technology, we could provide free diagnostic and maintenance tools that didn’t need to be installed. As times changed and PC Pitstop grew, we transitioned to a software subscription model to not only provide better and more secure diagnostic and maintenance tests, but turn our focus towards computer security with PC Matic.

Greetings,eMachines PC, just over a year old. Several months ago the internet connection would not re-establish after resuming from sleep mode.

This occurred after installing Vista updates. Doing a system restore to the point prior to the update fixed the problem. The problem has returned, but not after a Vista update or any other change. I have done the following, but they don't fix the problem:- System restore to earlier point- Unchecking 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'- Uninstalling/reinstalling the driver- Unchecking IPv6I've done extensive research and this appears to be a common problem. Is anyone aware of a fix?Thank you.Jeff. Hi Jeff,Which version of service pack is installed on your computer?Let’s try this command in command prompt to check if the network adapter gets detected after the computer resume from sleep mode.ipconfig /all ipconfig.txt(ipconfig.txt is the text file which will contain the status of TCP/IP configuration. Once you press Enter after typing this command the text file will get saved in C: drive)Please post back the result you get.For more information refer this link.IPConfigRegardsDebleena SMicrosoft Answers Support EngineerVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think. Hi Jeff,Thank you for replying.Let’s check for ipconfig.txt file in the location C: drive Users and post back the results.Additionally, you may also rollback the network card drivers to the previous version and check if it solves the issue. For more information refer this link.Restore a driver to its previous versionHope the information helps.

Please post back and let us know.RegardsDebleena SMicrosoft Answers Support EngineerVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you. I have the same issue on an eMachine EL1300G.

Everything has been working since last December until a most recent Vista update came down and now I cannot connect to the internet. I also cannot roll back the driver. I performed a system restore back to factoryoriginal image and all was well.

Until the update came down again. No internet connection. I have uninstalled the two most recent vista updates and rebooted as well as uninstalled antivirus and made sure that firewalls were off, and performeda reboot. I even tried installing a wireless usb network device and it also will not connect to the internet. Something in windows is whacked.I cannot seem to find the answer.

I am in process of reinstalling the nvidia nForce drivers to see if that will resolve the issue.Did Jeff find an answer at all?Dave Dave. Jeff,I am not a MS 'Engineer' but this worked for me:- Open 'Control Panel', Click on 'Network and Sharing Center' then click on 'Manage Network Connections' in the left sidebar.- Right click on your connection, usually 'Local Area Connection', then click properties.- Click on the 'Configure' button, then the 'Advanced' tab.- Go to 'Reset PHY If Not In Use' and change the value to 'Enable'.- Click 'Ok' and restart your computer.I tried all the other fixes you mentioned in your post and they did nothing for me as well. I changed the IPv6 and the power save settings back to original values and everything still works with the one change as detailed above. This was on a Vista machinewith the same type nVidia router.

Hope this helps - I searched everywhere for a solution to this problem and finally stumbled on to this myself. Like I said, I'm no MS Support 'ENGINEER' just a frustrated user!RickP.S. It will take a few seconds for your Internet connection to re-establish after coming out of Sleep mode, but it beats having to reset the network adaptor. It may have done this orginially, but it is such a quick reset you would never notice anyway.
